What would you change on the dial face of the Lange 1 that will make it look better? Nothing! I wouldn’t want to change one element on it. Lange one is perfection, already. Which is why, when Lange and Sohne decided to reintroduce the watch this year, they changed only its engine, a little bit, to improve on the functionality and life of the watch.
Built first in 1994 the gold bezel and white dial has a discreetly tasteful arrangement of functions. An asymmetric dial with the outsize date display and the prominently positioned power-reserve indicator conceals the new manually wound movement with the calibre number L121.1.
Very few things have changed in the new movement. Its precisely jumping outsize date display switches at midnight. The force needed for this action is slowly built up during a period of several hours. Additionally, the escapement of the LANGE 1 has a balance wheel with eccentric poising weights and a free-sprung hairspring crafted in-house. Beneath the hand-engraved balance cock, it still breathes with a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. The reliable twin mainspring barrel with a power reserve of 72 hours was retained as well.
A Lange and Sohne ‘Lange 1’ is among my all time favourite dress watches. Even though there is not much new in the 2015 version of the gold and white dress watch, it still deserves a spot in this list of dress watches SIHH 2015.

This watch is not round, nor oval, it is a shape in between the two. What’s more remarkable than the shape of the watch dial, is it’s crown. An elongated sapphire is inserted to remain flush with the metal surrounding it. So how is this to be used? Turn the key left or right to adjust time and date.

Vacheron Constantin Dress Watch SIHH 2015: Harmony Dual TIme Watch
Vacheron Constantin celebrates its 260th anniversary this year and to commemorate this feat, the swiss watch brand launched ‘Harmony’ watches in cushion shape. Each of the seven watches come in limited no. of pieces.
