Fusing a high rebound EVA forefoot, BOOST heel and Point of Deflection bridge, adidas Originals’ new P.O.D. System combines three individual innovations from the past to create the future standard in footwear. The purposeful design created distinct segments of the sole of the sneaker which provided targeted cushioning for the wearer tailored to each area’s specific requirements. The result is a sneaker that provides comfort to perform.
Inspired by adidas Torsion System technology, the Point of Deflection Bridge brings stability and flex to the podular sole and allows for the natural torsion of the foot. Built with the intent to enhance natural motion, adidas BOOST technology is focused on the heel unit, redirecting emphasis to the most important area of the foot for optimal stride.
The shoe’s sole unit was inspired by the mid ‘90s ‘Point of Deflection System’ technology– a unique three-dimensional cushioning system developed to provide shock absorption and stability in the outsole at the point of impact. This cushioning system has been reimagined for a new era with a flexible midsole bridge and a BOOST heel to create a shoe purpose-built for comfort and motion.
