Montblanc took over the reigns of Minerva manufacture in 2007 while contributing deserved deference for its inherent spirit to originality. As Minerva celebrates 160 years of its contributions to the world of watch making, At SIHH 2018, Montblanc paid tribute to the manufacture’s achievements over the years, by reimagining Minerva’s most popular watch conceptions.
Montblanc 1858 Pocket Watch
One of the most delectable new watches from Montblanc SIHH 2018 is the pocket watch limited to just 100 pieces. The blue dialed Montblanc pocket watch is designed to attract collectors and adventurers alike, with an aesthetically attractive inbuilt compass. Montblanc blue pocket watch can be strapped around the wrist with Sfumato aged calfskin strap with two pin buckles when one chooses to use the 60mm watch on an expedition.
The timepiece can be held in the hand with a dedicated brown Sfumato aged calf strap equipped with a cover. Over 50 elements make up this versatile and adaptable case.
A monopusher movement inspired by the Minerva Monophuser chronograph calibre MB M16.29 powers the pocket watch. The new movement by Montblanc is MB M16.24. The new pocket watch features a unique red central hand coated with SuperLumiNova indicating the time on a 24-hour scale on a dedicated minute-track. Superluminova also highlights the four cardinal engraved points on the compass. Readability is easy on the large dial with an unusual choice of stone used on dial by Montblanc. The blue beauty on the dial is actually a natural mineral called Dumortierite stone. Arabic numerals, indexes and hands; vintage fluted crown with monopusher chronograph are details added to keep in tune with the Montblanc 1858 design cues.

Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Watch
The Minerva collection encourages the spirit of mountain exploration with timepieces designed for adventurous activities. An absolute delight to look at is the Montblanc watch with two globes on it. What is it, you might wonder? The Montblanc 1858 Geosphere watch boasts of worldtime complication with two turning domed hemisphere globes. Both these globes make full rotation in 24 hours. The northern hemisphere at 12 o’clock turns anti- clockwise, while the southern hemisphere turns clockwise. They are both surrounded by a scale with the 24 time zones, along with a day/night indication in contrasting colours. The longitude reference meridian for both hemispheres is highlighted with a white line coated with a highlighter. Additionally, a second time zone display is located at nine o’clock and a date (linked to the local time) is indicated in an aperture at three o’clock.
The stunning worldtimer, Montblanc black-dial watch is dedicated to the world’s ‘Seven Summit mountaineering challenge’. The Seven Summits challenge is the most difficult mountaineering quest and only 500 athletes have achieved it. The mission is of climbing highest mountains from each continent. The world’s Seven summits are marked on the two globes on the dial, with red dots.
Montblanc 2018 new black watch comes in two versions; with a stainless steel case or a limited edition bronze case (1858 pieces). Montblanc Geosphere 42 mm watches come with a choice of black “NATO” strap, a cognac-coloured aged calfskin strap with beige stitching or a new brown Sfumato aged calf leather Bund strap with beige stitching, reminiscent of historical Minerva timepieces from the 1920s and 1930s made for mountaineering and military uses.

Then there is a drool worthy watch for vintage watch lovers . Montblanc 1858 Monopusher Chronograph watch with a green dial and resized, rounded cathedral- shaped hands compliment the luminescent Arabic numerals. The green Montblanc dial features a bi-compax dial with a small second counter at nine o’clock, a chronograph 30-minute counter at three o’clock and a tachymeter scale on the outer part of the dial. The hand-finished movement of caliber MB M13.21features the iconic V-shaped chronograph bridge, whose design was protected in 1912, along with the iconic Minerva arrow decorated by hand.

Montblanc Automatic watches 2018: Montblanc also introduced a very well priced watches. An automatic vintage inspired watch priced at just 2490 Euros. It will be sold in two new dial versions in a choice of black or smoked champagne colour, both with beige luminescent Arabic numerals and precise railway minute tracks.
Priced at 3990 Euros is the Montblanc Automatic Chronograph measuring 42mm in size . The bronze model (with back coated in Titanium) has a smoked champagne-coloured dial with sunray finishing, providing an elegant backdrop for the bi-compax counters positioned at three and nine o’clock, which take their inspiration from Minerva’s historic chronographs. This model is available in a stainless steel or bronze case.
