James Bond has more reasons to cheer! Besides the recent spate of awesomely successful movies, the engineers at Aston Martin continue to crank out surreal examples of great engineering & aesthetics. Only so that the 007 can wreck them in impossible car chases! The newest in the line of great machines is the DB9 GT.
Announced in June 2015, the ‘Aston Martin DB9 GT’ will be the fastest & meanest DB9, yet. The new Aston Martin DB9 GT has relentlessly been in production for 11 years. It is admittedly not the sexiest Aston Martin around. Yet, Aston Martin DB9, continues to be a cornerstone of the AM stable.
The new GT Is described as “the best that a DB9 can be”. Aston Martin DB9 GT’s 6 litre – V12, delivers 540BHP (30 more than its predecessor) & a peak torque of 457lb ft at 5500 rpm. On paper the DB9 is outclassed by other worthy competitors like Ferrari’s California T & the Mercedes S65 AMG. But the car’s subtle understated aggression is what has won the car a loyal following, through the years.
The new Aston Martin DB9 GT car, is available in a coupe version & the open top Volate. Unlike the Rapide and the Vanquish, which have moved to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the DB9 GT still has six speeds.
Inside, the multimedia system has received a makeover. An evolution of the system first fitted to the new-generation Vanquish. You get real-time power and torque readings (word of caution: focusing on those while driving can often lead to undesirable results), bluetooth audio streaming and DAB radio.
There is “GT” badging embroidered on the seats. Coupe customers get a microsuede-wrapped steering wheel. While Aston Martin Volante buyers will have a traditional, leather-covered version.
On the outside the perceivable difference is the black-painted splitter and diffuser combo (or carbon fiber as an option), subtly revised headlights and tail-lights, new 10-spoke alloy wheels and a GT-engraved fuel-filler cap.
Fuel economy has never been Aston’s forte. The Aston martin 2015 car, DB9 GT is no different. Expect a cool 13mpg in the city. Come on! You’re going to worry about how much fuel this guzzles while driving? Bourgeois, I say!
So how much does this beauty set you back by? The Aston Martin 2015 car price is US$ 202000. Well, if your last divorce cost you more, I suggest you try investing your time & money in the Aston Martin DB9 GT, this time.
Disclaimer: To my knowledge the DB9 has never featured in a James Bond movie (yet), Daniel Craig has been zipping around in an Aston Martin DBS or Aston Martin DB5 in the last few movies.
