The Cartier Crash watch is back! This time in a Rose Gold version. Skeleton Cartier watch automatic and many more anticipated timepieces will finally be launched at SIHH 2016, in Geneva. There is so much more to see in the Cartier 2016 collection. 6 Cartier 2016 watches are already revealed as part of Pre-SIHH build up…Here’s all you need to know about your next watch from Cartier, in the new year.
Cartier New 2016 Panther Watch: The Panthères Et Colibri
This is not just a high end jewellery watch. Though, the diamond studded case and dial may suggest otherwise. The timepiece comes with a cool complication. When the crown is pressed, it activates the animation on the dial. A baby panther made in pink gold comes out from below the mother panther. Simultaneously, the humming bird seen above the mother panther’s head soars along an arc. The distance it covers along the arc indicates the remaining power reserve. This on-demand power reserve function is never seen in any other watch before.
The Panthères Et Colibri is powered by Cartier’s in-house produced calibre 9915 MC. The 367 component movement has thickness of 5.45 mm only. The white gold case is rhodium-finished and decorated with 314 sparkling cut-diamonds. Even the mother panther is made of rhodium-finished white gold. With 270 diamonds, black lacquer spots and pear-shaped emerald for the eye makes both the panther and the watch look stunning.
Cartier Clé De Cartier Automatic Skeleton, 2016 Model
The Clé De Cartier Automatic Skeleton watch has a gorgeous minimalistic design. But, this is not your usual skeleton watch. The see-through dial has cuttings in form of roman numerals 3, 6, 9 and 12 depicting the hours. In fact, 9612 MC movement on this watch has skeletonised bridges. They cleverly merge with the architecture of the case and the dial. This reveals the calibre fully and gives the watch a complete skeletonised look.
This is Cartier’s first self-winding skeleton watch. Implementing a self-winding movement inside Cartier’s skeleton watch design is a challenge in itself. The feat was achieved by cutting away the weight and thickness of the 22-karat gold rotor. The rotor offers 48 hours of power reserve. The watch comes in a 41 mm rare palladium case. It has an elegant yet modern appeal thanks to its solid openwork design and movement.
Cartier SIHH 2016 Watches: The Cartier Crash Skeleton In Pink Gold
The Cartier’s Crash is one of the most original watch designs of all time. As the story goes, in the mid of 1960s the Cartier’s Vice-President was involved in a fatal car accident. He was wearing a Cartier Bagnoire wristwatch which was partially melted due to the fire from the car accident. As a tribute to the Vice-President and inspired by the melted case, the Crash model was born.
This year the Cartier’s Crash is re-introduced in pink gold case measuring 28.15mm x 45.32mm. And in spite of what you may perceive, this is a men’s watch! The movement 9618 MC used in the watch is not the regular circular or rectangular one. The movement of Cartier Crash Skeleton 2016 watch is designed and sculpted clearly for the Crash-case. The pink gold crash watch has a 21 jewel movement with 3-days of power reserve. The blue hands on the dial and the blue sapphire on the crown provide a nice contrast against the pink gold case.
Cartier New Year’s Collection: Rotonde de Cartier Earth and Moon
The Rotonde de Cartier Earth and Moon watch in 47 mm Cartier pink gold case is a statement watch. The open-worked meteorite dial has a hypnotising look. It features Cartier’s signature elongated roman numerals in skeletonised form. The watch has two distinct sections. The upper section displays the local time as well as a 24-hour disc that displays the second time zone. The below section is made up of a tourbillon. The watch has an on-demand moon-phase indicator, with the tourbillon acting as the moon.
When the pusher at 4’o clock is pressed, a circular disc at 6’o clock is seen sliding across. When the disc slides across, it reveals the hidden tourbillon Cartier cage. The crescent shape formed reveals the phase of the moon. The watch is equipped with Cartier’s caliber 9440 MC and is produced in a limited edition of only 15 pieces.
Cartier 2016 Collection: The Cartier Panthère Mystérieuse
The Cartier’s mystery version of watches and clocks dates all the way back to 1913. This new 2016 Cartier watch is made in white gold and black laquer case. The 40 mm case features a diamond-studded panther crouching over the mystery dial. The panther is ornamented with 533 diamonds and pear-shaped emeralds for the eyes.
The so-called mystery dial is also very simple and plain looking. It features just two hands (hours and minutes) and is covered by transparent sapphire crystal on both front and back. The time on the mystery dial is indicated with the help of caliber 9981 MC movement. The movement is made in such a way that all the parts and components are isolated on one-side of the case. This gives an illusion of the watch working without the help of any mechanical parts. The Cartier Panthère Mystérieuse ladies jewellery watch 2016 comes with an alligator strap and diamond-encrusted clasp.
