I have often struggled for an answer when asked to suggest the best luxury phone. There are several luxury phones out there in the market priced between $ 3,000 to $ 65,000. Ironically, here, the big price tag does not ascertain the best quality. A luxury phone can be defined as truly luxurious if it succeeds in offering what no other top ranking economy phone can i.e. outstanding design and incomparable technology. Vertu phones have always looked good. Flaunted the quintessential luxury factor. What was missing, thus far in Vertu phones was the latest in technology.
This luxury phone from Vertu packs the latest software, Android 4.4. It runs on a super fast machine, Snapdragon 2.3 Ghz 4-core processor that is nearly as good as that on HTC M8!! A massive fuel tank, 2275 mAh battery and a mega snapper – 13 MP camera.
I spent a few days with the new Vertu device to find out if it ticks all the right boxes, to be called the ‘smartest’ luxury phone of 2014.
Design: New Vertu Signature Touch
What is it that makes the design of the New Vertu Signature Touch luxury mobile phone 2014, better than the rest? Vertu Signature Touch 2014 luxury mobile phone uses expensive metal, stones and leather, ONLY where they look GOOD. Vertu does not overdo the ‘upscale factor’, here.

It is very comfortable to hold as it is perfectly sized around a 4.7 inch screen. New Vertu Signature Touch has just the right amount of leather and metal.
The body is designed in ‘V’ shape on both front and back for easy grip. Leather flows on the sides for comfortable grip. Look at the front where ceramic is used to form the ear pillow. Ceramic is used as it does not heat up. The pillow is shaped to properly fit an ear, for clear audio. Bottom side, phone takes a diving nose shape for comfortable hold and slim fit in pocket.
The casing of Vertu’s new luxury phone is grade five titanium alloy, a material two-and-a-half times stronger than stainless steel. This metal is very light and thus does not add to the weight of phone. Some models in the Vertu Signature Touch range are covered in rose gold.

I wouldn’t recommend a Vertu owner to hide the new Signature Touch under any circumstances. However, if need be a slip-style case with two-tone stitching detail and a suede lining, with a choice of Jet or Claret calf leather, or Damson or Seaspray Lizard, can be purchased.
Back side of a phone has never looked this good. Leather with double stitching, dominates backside. Unlike most smartphones, Vertu has used a distinctive way of creating a sim tray. A sim compartment with a very interesting D Link latch, sits below camera. Every aspect of the sim compartment, too, is finely finished.
Performance: New Vertu Signature Touch boasts a power specification sheet. It has the fastest Snapdragon processor – Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 Ghz on quad core. This makes Vertu’s new phone the most powerful luxury phone till date.
Functioning of the device is faster and more smooth than its older luxury phones. Vertu uses majority features of ‘Stock Android 4.4’ which means that Vertu has not added much of its own technology in the device when it comes to user interface and software thus making it very easy to use.
Battery of Vertu Signature Touch is pumped with more fuel at 2275 mAh battery. Full charge will easily last a day with mediocre usage of both call and data services.
What disappoints me, is the camera performance. 13 MP camera certified by renowned company Hasselblad takes mostly grainy pictures. Video recording quality too is not satisfactory.
Memory space too of this android luxury phone is impressive with 2GB RAM and 64 GB inbuilt space.
Vertu life and Concierge services are also included in this phone. What use are they of, you ask? If you are flying to London and find out that there is a Coldplay concert happening in a few hours, in town. Vertu Concierge will work like genie and get you the tickets!! (at a rocking price!!)
Unboxing: Like always, Vertu packs the device in a massive box. New Vertu Signature Touch Android luxury phone is accompanied by a set of booklets that include warranty card. All types of chargers – american, european etc. Sadly,the massive box of accessories of Vertu Signature Touch luxury phone does not include a wireless charging pad ! That has to be purchased separately.

Conclusion: Vertu Signature Touch 2014 is the best Android luxury phone, to buy. It looks stunning and won’t disappoint with its performance. It is the only luxury phone that comes closest to the might of super smart phones like HTC M8, among Android phones. Vertu has taken a huge leap in betttering technology with the new Vertu Signature Touch. However, it still does not outshine the tech prowess of the top economy phones. When Vertu produces a phone that can, it will indeed be a true luxury to own such a phone.
