From among all watches shown by Rolex, at Baselworld 2014, the ‘Cellini’ collection deserves a special mention.
Never heard of this rolex model before? Rolex ‘Cellini’ collection, is not a new series. Rolex Cellini 2014 is reincarnation of less-popular dress-watch from Rolex, with origins dating back to early 20th century.
This time-teller has an interesting history, obliviated due to long gap in production of watch. It starred in James Bond flick ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ in 1974. Christopher Lee, who played villain ‘Scaramanga’, wore a golden Rolex Cellini King Midas.
Rolex Cellini collection is refreshingly different from its predecessors, especially King Midas and Cellini Prince. New Cellini collection is sharp, formal, and modish with elegance of a vintage dress-watch. It is, by far the only Cellini, I found worthy of admiration.

What makes Cellini series stand out from all other Rolex watches is that it has its own unique identity.
Rolex Cellini does not have an Oyster case-back. Uses leather straps. Even the crown on side is different from most of Rolex’s popular models like the Daytona, Datejust & Daydate.
Lets take a closer look at Rolex Cellini Dual Time. As name suggests, it can tell two time zones. In addition it displays day and night indication.
Love the 39 mm slim dial case. Two bezels decorate dial. First is domed and then comes small-fluted bezel. Case back is not oyster shape but very similar – dome shape. It is circled by a fluted impression. Case is screwed in, making Rolex Cellini 2014 watches, waterproof to 50 meters.
All Rolex Celini 2014 models come in either 18 carat white gold or Everose gold. Dial is either lacquered or embellished with a black or a silver-plated classic “Rayon flammé de la gloire” guilloche motif which enhances the vintage look of Cellini. A guilloche is a repetitive architectural pattern used in classical Greece and Rome works.
Gold applique lines form hour markers with a slit in between. I found this design distinctive and attractive.
